After the birth of our daughter Sascha in 2000, I became increasingly aware of how much baby gear a newborn needs, and how quickly that gear needs to be replaced. This realization, coupled with the growing number of families who cannot afford even the basic necessities for their children, made me want to do more. I decided to start a non-profit organization that would focus on collecting gently used and new baby gear and clothing for infants and toddlers. We would redistribute these items to mothers in poverty in the greater New York area and help them start life with a newborn with less stress and some comfort during a very critical time.
