GeoMatrix Solutions Inc. researches, develops and markets technologies for radioactive and hazardous waste management. GeoMatrix has proprietary processes for immobilization of radioactive and hazardous waste, both in liquid and solid form. "Enhanced vitrification" is a technology that provides a substantially higher waste loading (i.e. the fraction of waste incorporated in the final product) than standard vitrification. "Mineral encapsulation" is a second technology that immobilizes the waste within a mineral matrix, surrounded by either glass or rock. Mineral encapsulation of radioactive and hazardous wastes provides more secure and longer lasting immobilization with other current technologies, in addition to high waste loadings. These technologies are especially suited for high-level radioactive waste [HLW].
