| Ice Theatre of New York is committed to planning, developing and organizing a company devoted to the promotion of the combination of various art forms, in particular figure skating, dance and visual arts and to provide skaters, dancers, and other artists an opportunity to exchange ideas and show their works at public performances. Ice Theatre of New York celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2004. Founded by Moira North, Ice Theatre remains dedicated to developing figure skating as a performing art through its performances and educational programs. The Company continues to forge ahead, creating a most unique environment in which professional artists from various backgrounds collaborate with dance choreographers, musicians, writers, and visual artists to create and perform new and innovative works for ice. Ice Theatre is the nation's first not-for-profit dance-on-ice ensemble to be awarded grants as a dance company by the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts |
